Challenge: How might we create safer experiences for students walking home late at night after a party/social event while potentially inebriated or fatigued?

 

Solution: 

  • Personal Safety Alert Device

    • When triggered, device sends alert message and gps location to chosen contacts or authorities​​​​

    • Simple, pocketable, and rechargeable

    • Multiple Trigger Modes

    • LED and haptic feedback

    • Provisional patent for​ design and functionality

  • Performed significant user/market research and existing product benchmarking/testing

  • Conducted patent research to define whitespace and create competitive advantage.

  • Drafted claims and filed provisional patent of our design

  • Designed and Built "looks-like" prototype

    • 3D printed design alternatives for ergonomic testing and design validation

    • Optimized enclosure design for injection molding and assembly

    • Created technical part drawings, and 3D model renders
